After pulling the truck from the US market, ford has announced its intention to bring back the Ford Ranger truck. It has been revised to overcome the challenges its predecessors faced. The model goes by the name the 2016 Ford Ranger.
2016 Ford Ranger Exterior and Interior
The Ford Ranger is a beautiful truck. The 2016 model will be offered in two body shapes i.e. single cab and double cab. The single cab features 2 doors while the double cab is offered with four doors. The vehicle features a light aluminum and high-resistance steel body which will reduce its weight, an improvement in an area its predecessors performed poorly. At the front, the vehicle will have a redesigned grille which will be tweaked to look more modern. Its headlights and taillights will feature LED technology. The headlights also feature a sharp line which makes the vehicle look more aggressive. The body also features modern body lines which result in an aggressive exterior profile.
The interior of the Ford Ranger is unique compared to other trucks. The cabin is car-like and will be offered in two color tones. For ease of control, Ford has centralized the vehicle’s climate control, entertainment and navigation information. The truck will also offer various technological features meant to improve its control, handling, safety, stability control and handling. Some of these features will include lane keep alert, cruise control, park assist, a tire pressure motoring system, lane keep alert, forward alert, electronic stability system and hill descent control. To keep the cabin quiet and serene, the automaker has hooked up the truck with sound deafening materials. Higher trim levels will feature leather upholstery as well as heated and ventilated seats. It will also come with the Ford’s in-car connectivity system which offers the driver full control of various systems and commands. It also comes with the SYNC system and a 240 volts power sockets which allows passengers to charge their electronic devices.
2016 Ford Ranger Power-train and performance
We understand that the 2016 Ford Ranger will be offered in four power-trains. The first engine option will be a 2.2 l EcoBoost unit capable of producing 158 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. The engine is EPA rated at 21mpg for city and 30 mpg on highway drives. This engine will be one of the most fuel-efficient in this class. The second unit is a 2.5 L EcoBoost turbocharged Duratec unit. This engine which will run on petrol is capable of producing 163 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. The third engine will be a diesel unit, it is a 2.2 L Duratorq, 4-cylinder TDCi engine good for 160 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. Though not officially confirmed, there is a fourth engine which will be a 3.2 L Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi unit which will deliver 200 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. All the four engines will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
2016 Ford Ranger Price and release date
Ford has not yet released any official communication about the 2016 Ford Ranger’s release date or price. However, reports indicate that its production will start in the last quarter of 2015 and sales will follow later in early 2016. The base trim will have a starting price of $20,000.
